I scream, you scream, India screams for ice cream!
Indian Ice Cream market has been flat in past years, however, a new picture is emerging.
According to Mitel’s Ice Cream Global Annual Review 2017 Report, the sales volume is expected to nearly double from 334.4 million liters on 2016 to 657.3 million liters by 2021 in India.
The report also states that in the last 5 years, the ice cream sales volume has increased by 13%, which is the fastest in the world.
However, the per capita ice cream consumption in India is far behind the world’s top consumer which includes Norway (9.8 liters), Australia(9.4 liters) and Sweden (8.9 liters). India is at the fourth position in consuming 333 million liters ice cream in 2016.
Reason for Growth
The large population, increasing savings of customers, and government investment have made ice cream a popular dessert and treat for Indians, reports says.
